Yoko Shimomura will be reprising her role to compose the music in Kingdom Hearts 3; the news came in directly from this year’s Tokyo Game Show. Yoko Shimomura has been described as “the most famous female video game music composer in the world.” Shimomura worked on the original music for Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts II so fans are excited that she is reprising her role. Square Enix Origin has more details and what this means for Kingdom Hearts 3.
Yoko Shimomura To Compose Kingdom Hearts 3 Music
After graduating from Osaka College of Music in 1988, Shimomura jumped straight into the gaming industry by working with Capcom where she composed games like Street Fighter II and Final Fight. It’s without a doubt that Yoko Shimomura is one of, if not the best, composers to ever grace their touch on a video game. Not only will she be working on composing music for Kingdom Hearts 3, but Tetsuya Nomura had personally contacted her to work with him on Final Fantasy XV.
Some of her other work will be including Kingdom Hearts X(CHI) which is still a working title from Square Enix. She’s helped to compose some powerful themes such as “Dearly Beloved” and “Destati” which are two of my personal favorites. I’m deeply excited that they brought someone creative and original back to work on Kingdom Hearts 3.
We don’t know much about Kingdom Hearts 3 nor do we know the release date, but we do know that it will be released on the PS4 and the Xbox One. Square Enix Origin will keep you updated with all the latest information as we get it.
